Life Racing Advanced Power Distribution Units

The PDUx represents the latest advancements in microprocessor controlled power distribution systems. The PDUx range offers advanced features such as;
  • The flexible multipurpose inputs mean the PDU also doubles as an input expander. Inputs may be configured as voltage inputs with selectable pull up resistor, frequency measurement or as a simple switch.
  • When used with a Life Racing ECU, the powerful Slave link feature can fully integrate any desired PDU input or output as part of the engine ecu via a specific CAN bus which is fast enough to allow such functions as VVT cam control & drive by wire to have their I/O on the PDU.
  • Extremely capable multifunction outputs. Select outputs can be defined by the user to operate in either discreet high-side or low-side switching, low-side PWM, Half or Full bridge operation. Additional lowside PWM outputs are also provided.
  • Schematic based calibration makes creating logic & control functions intuitive & easy to follow. Flexible logic functions allow almost any control strategy that can be thought of.
  • Logic simulation feature allows testing of logic & control functions to validate calibration before use. The logic path throgh the schematic based calibration quickly allows any logic problem to be found.
  • Live monitoring of schematic based calibration to check operation.
  • 2x CAN bus (plus additional 3rd CAN bus for Slave) along with flexible customisable CAN configuration allow device to be used as a CAN hub.
  • Dual ethernet with ability to act as an ethernet switch. This allows a Life Racing ECU and PDU to communicate with a laptop at the same time.
  • The ability to sleep and wake via CAN bus messaging or by using hardware pins including the ability to wake/sleep upon the triggering of certain user-specified sensor inputs.

    The PDUx2 suits most circuit race cars with 16 main power outputs with plenty of current capacity. 12 multipurpose inputs are a great way to expand your ECU.

    Outputs; • 16 main Power Outputs ◦ 4 multifunction high side, low side, PWM, H-Bridge outputs (35A continuous, soft-start inrush limiting 35A) ◦ 2 High Side outputs (35A continuous, hard-start inrush 60A) ◦ 10 High Side outputs (12A continuous, hard-start inrush 17.5A) ◦ Output teaming to support very high current devices • 2 Additional Low Side signal PWM Outputs • All outputs short circuit and thermally protected with multi-stage in-rush control • Combined diagnostic output with reset input • Up to 64 soft outputs via CAN

    34 main power outputs & 16 inputs makes the PDUx3 ideal for more output demanding applications such as rally cars.
